Pay it forward

Pay it forward is a saying that is used when you try to pay someone back but they say just pay it forward meaning pay me back by helping someone else when they are in need. I think this is a great saying that ought not only to be said but lived out even in the work place.

A song just recently came to my mind that a friend of mine had me listen to by Clay Walker about a month ago called the “Chain of love” and the song has a great story line that inspired me to write today’s blog. Basically the song starts off where a man named Joe helped fix a lady’s flat tire and when she tried to pay him back he basically said the way to pay me back is don’t let the chain of love end with you. So she goes to a local diner and sees that her waitress is pregnant and dead on her feet, so she leaves her waitress a nice tip and a note basically saying I do not need change and if you want to pay me back then don’t let the chain of love end with you. Well the waitress goes home that night and meets her husband who is already in bed and tells him that every thing is going to be alright I love you Joe.

So basically Joe helped a lady who helped a lady which was his wife so the giving made it back to him by chance because everyone kept the chain of love going by paying the good deed forward instead of paying the person back. That same “chain” may never make it back to you like in this story but if we all help each other, the cold world and the companies we work in starts becoming better places to live in.

There is an old saying that states “love makes the world go ’round” and the opposite is true that without love the world stops working. In our workplaces the less we love and care for each other, the less we work together and business starts going stagnant like a pond. So let’s remember to love on another and care for one another and maybe not every time but when you do something nice to someone who can’t repay you at that time just tell them just to pay it forward or don’t let the chain of love end with you.
